Like all sports activities, it can be carried out by both adults and children. In the case of polo, the same situation occurs, children start in what are called “schools” and end up being players, some professionals and others not.
But, what are we talking about when we talk about polo for children?
You can start this activity at the early age of 5 years in those children who know how to ride, but if you do not know how to ride, you must start riding school first to acquire enough skills on the horse and then continue in the riding polo school.
Always, for the start of the activity, parental authorization is required, as well as medical equipment and safety elements such as a helmet, polo or traditional whip, school heel, leggings, knee pads and gloves.
The learning always goes from minor to major, therefore it always begins with movements on the wooden horse and then moves on to a real horse. And once classes have started, they are generally taught by level: basic or beginner, intermediate and advanced. Many schools not only teach the game, but they are also a good environment to learn values such as camaraderie, chivalry on and off the field and respect and care for the horse.
From the age of 17, on average, boys begin to receive offers from abroad, whether to play, prepare an animal or teach other players the natural tricks learned in the pampa. Some may form teams in college and others even in college.
For children, Polo Camps are generally developed, while once the university has started there are many Polo Holidays plans.
The path to be a professional athlete can take years, starting from childhood, with a wooden horse, to later become a rider and finally a polo player. Along the way, not only did they learn a game, they become friends, they coexist with nature and animals, and as if that were not enough, they learn values.
Be a polo player !!
